This year I am homeschooling both my 1st grader and my PreK (ages 2-3) daughters.
KPIE- My older daugher, KPie, has always been super interested in “doing school work” and usually enjoys most subjects. This is our second year but our first serious year about getting in school everyday. Her subjects for 1st grade include…
Calendar Notebook: Pages created by 1+1+1=1 blogger. I have also added a few of my own pages on things I wanted her to practice.
Bible: New this year we are trying Grapevine Studies Level 1 Old Testament: Creation to Jacob. I am also working through a Level 4 Old Testament Creation to Jacob book with her. She likes that I have to do more work than her but we still have the same pictures being drawn.
Handwriting: She is continuing to use A Reason for Handwriting Level A Handwriting book which is recommended for Grade 1 students.
Math: KPie is going to be using Horizons Math again and is using the 1st grade book this year. She will be doing double duty for 3-4 weeks and will be adding a Kindergarten sheet as well. We came up just short of finishing them last year.
Geography: This year we will be walking across the United States or at least studying through the United States with Road Trip USA by Confessions of a Homeschooler. We are using Geography this year just an introduction to state names and their capitals.
History: Also for the first time this year we are using Mystery of History, Volume 1 Creation to the Resurrection.
Language/ Writing: We are also trying for the first time Institute for Excellence in Writings Primary Arts of Language: Complete Writing Package.
Reading: We will be continuing this year with All About Reading Level 1 and continuing on to Level 2 when we finish.
Spelling: All About Spelling Level 1 was included with our Language/ Writing program, however we were also planning on using it since we were having such success with All About Reading.
Science: This year we will be continuing to use Nancy Larson Science Kindergarten because truthfully we were being lazy last year and accomplished less than half of the book and it very well written.
Art: We are going to start using Home Art Studio Kindergarten and 1st Grade.
Notebooking; We are planning on introducing some notebooking this year and using it on many of our subjects but only 1 or 2 pages per week. I plan on using some pages from NotebookingPages.com as well as creating some of my own.
EPEA- I have chosen paper assignments for the younger one because she is showing some readiness and interest in doing school papers just like her sister. That being said, she really doesn’t work for more than 20 minutes, up to 30 minutes each day.
Bible: She is also using Grapevine Studies but is using Beginner Traceable: Creation to Babel. It looks to line up semi-well but isn’t quite as detailed as the level 1 book. I will let you know as we get farther how it is working.
Geography: EPea will also be taking the ride with Road Trip USA by Confessions of a Homeschooler. We are using Geography this year just an introduction to state names and their capitals. EPea is included during this time and allowed to color with us but I am expecting even less mastery from her.
History: Also for the first time this year we are using Mystery of History, Volume 1 Creation to the Resurrection. We use the coloring sheets in this as well and she always enjoys listening to a story so I thought it was the perfect time to introduce her to some of the stories.
ABC’s: The big part of EPeas learning this year will be Tot School Printables A-Z by 1+1+1=1 and you can see her daughter work through the units starting here through here.
Printable Packs: We plan on using printable Packs in different themes to supplement and let her enjoy during her school work.
I also plan on using lots of games and toys for her to explore through and introduce concepts and play with from our collection here at home. I will also add on anything else I think she would enjoy and
So that is the curriculum choices that we have made and are looking forward to start using today.
This post and been included in the iHomeschool Network Not Back-to-School Blog Hop.

How are you liking the grapevine bible study. Also how is mystery of history going. I think I am going to start it maybe in January. Everything looks like fun!
