PG suggested 2

This week we learned about the four fundamental needs of children:
1. secuirty- a childs greatest need until about age 5- the need to know that they are safe.
2. identity- usually from age 5-11- trying to figure out what they are good at and who they are
3. acceptance- usually middle school-trying to find acceptance from there friends
4. significance- late high school to college- trying to find out where you fit into the world

Rules
#6-- Praise your child frequently --> will help your child create a strong identity
give your child lots of honest praise (but do not lie).

#7--  Change the friends, by changing your child -->also works on the childs identity
if you dislike your childs friends, start by building your childs identity.  kids choose there friends by how good they feel about themselves. so make them feel better about themselves and they will be looking for better friends.

#8-- When the world changes at school, the world must change at home
when your child moves from elementary school to middle school and to high school- things must change at home also including amount of responsibility and rules

#9-- Anticipate the next phase of the journey
know what the next fundamental need is going to be so you can guide them into that stage rather than having to play catch up

And most importantly keep in mind that whoever meets the need of the child will have the most influence in there lives.  Ideally that should be God followed by the parents.  And later in life the spouse.

So we hope to have you keep coming back to find out the rest of the 20 rules.
