PAT January Visit

Today was our January Parents as Teachers home visit. Our project was to work on matching.  Today our home educator brought some matching puzzles.  She brought a folder with shapes laminated to the folder and a second set with velcro on the back.  This was probably our favorite.  We matched over the shapes over and over.
She also brought a placemat which she had drawn the shapes of a plate, cup, fork and spoon for us to match which item goes in each place.  KPie struggled with this one for a few and then once we explained this again and told her to look at the shapes closely she quickly figured it out.
Our final puzzle was slightly different, these buttons have magnets on the back.  The buttons each had stickers on them that matched stickers that were placed on the can.  This matching puzzle forced KPie to have to spin the can to look for the different items that matched, using more thought since you cannot see all the different pieces at the same time.
Finally, this was just a cute picture at the end.  KPie kept placing items in the bucket and finally she put her sippy cup inside and then lifted the big can to drink out of it.  It was just funny to look and see her drinking out of this giant cup.
Today was a good Parents as Teachers lesson seeing different ideas for puzzles that I would not have originally thought of- especially the round can (which can also be used to hold the pieces to the puzzle).
