Stitch Fix- January 2014

Stitch Fix is a monthly styling subscription service. When you sign up you take a pretty in-depth survey about your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences, and then your personal stylist sends you 5 items either once a month (or each time you schedule a fix).  The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

Each Stitch Fix comes with a card showing you styling ideas for your items. There’s also a letter from your stylist explaining why they picked each item and they usually include some suggestions too!

Shirt- 41Hawthorn SelfridgeCowlNeck
My first piece I tried on was the Selfridge Cowl Neck Long Sleeve Top.  First Impressions: I love the color.
My thoughts? I loved the color on me and I thought it was a cute style and fit well.  Definitely a keeper.
I also am wearing Honey Comb Cluster Necklace.  First Impressions: Different and kind of big.
My thoughts?  It actually looked much better on than I thought.  It is a little larger than most pieces I own and I was unsure if I would wear it very often.  Returning.

Jeans- Kenzie Malin
The next piece I had to decide on was the Malin Bootcut Jeans.  First Impressions: Looked like they would be comfortable, they were the stretchy denim.  I was also super excited because I have looking for jeans.
My thoughts? They were incredibly comfortable.  Probably more so than any other pair I have ever warn.  However, they were three times more expensive than every other pair I have ever warn.  Returning, however I took down the information and found out where I could purchase these jeans elsewhere (for the same price) after I have been shopping if I can’t find some jeans that might work for me for cheaper (and in my husbands approved budget).
*Update: I have now found jeans that fit and look good!!!

Shirt- UnderSkies LocarnoAiryStriped.
My next change was into the Locarno Airy Knit Striped Shirt.  First Impression: I have always been led to believe that horizontal stripes make you look bigger but trusted that the stylist knew what they were doing and would try it.
My thoughts? This is definitely a sweater, so it is see through, and required an under layer.  This made me concerned that my ring would catch on it or one of my kids would catch on it.  Next, I noticed that it was a little shorter than I normally prefer.  When I raise my arms up I am not fond of my tummy or shirt showing that much.  Returning.
Dress- DanielRainn CatinaBelted
My last piece was the Catina Belted 3/4 Sleeve Silk Dress.  First Impressions:  Uh oh, silk and kids.  However it looks cute, maybe.
My thoughts? I really wasn’t sure about this dress.  I thought on me, it looked a little like an old school teacher.  I also thought it made my shoulders look wider than normal because of the puffed sleeves.  It is also shorter than I am use to wearing and that would take some getting use to.  Returning.

My Overall Thought? I loved the convenience of someone picking out things and mailing them tome.   And even more so, someone who knows a thing or two about style.  I cannot wait for my next fix!!!
