PAT August

PATJPG Today was our August Parents As Teachers (PAT) home educator visit.

We started by having a bunch of cards pulled out and set on the table.  Next a box was pulled out and KPie was told that it was full of different items.  KPie then spent the next little while pulling out one object at a time and matching them to the cards.   She did really strong at this and had very few mistakes (one or two were because some of the pictures were very similar and easy to confuse without being able to read the names also).

After we were finished matching all the cards (we did put all the objects back in and match them again) we also tried another game.

The second game that we tried was putting 3 or 4 objects in the box at a time and asking KPie without looking to pull out one of them.  So for example, we put the football, the spider, the key and the block in the box and then would ask her to pull out the key.  Once she found it we would set it aside and ask her to pull out the block and so on until the 4 items were gone.  We would then start with 4 new items and ask the same of her.  KPie did pretty good at this but sometimes struggled.  Some of the time she would get distracted looking for the item and other times if the egg and orange were in at the same time she just couldn’t tell the difference very well.

Today was a very good visit and we can’t wait until next month and another installment of PAT.
